About this tour

Two thousand years of Barcelona sit on top of each other in the Gothic Quarter, and this walk peels them back one layer at a time. You start at the Roman walls, stand among the columns of the Temple of Augustus, and cross the medieval square where, as the story goes, the Catholic Monarchs received Columbus after his first voyage.

Your historian guide keeps the pace gentle and the stories specific: stonemasons’ marks in the cathedral cloister, the scarred walls of Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, the lanes of El Call, the old Jewish quarter. Halfway through, you stop for thick hot chocolate in a granja that has served it for more than a century.

Highlights

  • Sip hot chocolate in a century-old granja

  • Discover surviving pillars of the Temple of Augustus

  • Visit the historic Plaça del Rei, Columbus reception hall

  • Learn about the Jewish Quarter (El Call) and ancient synagogue

Questions

Before you book

What happens if it rains?

Walking tours go ahead in light rain, and your guide will adapt the route to covered spots where possible. If a storm or a weather warning makes a tour unsafe, we will offer you a new date or a full refund. Sailing trips depend on the skipper’s call on wind and sea conditions.

Are your tours suitable for children?

Most tours welcome children, and our guides are good at keeping younger travelers involved with stories and small challenges along the way. The El Born tapas evening is for adults, and we can suggest family-friendly alternatives when you book.

Where do we meet our guide?

Each tour page shows the exact meeting point with a map. Your confirmation email repeats it with your guide’s name and phone number, and several tours include pickup from central hotels.

Are your tours wheelchair accessible?

Some are fully step-free, others include cobbles, stairs or boarding a boat. Check the accessibility notes on each tour page, and tell us about any needs when you book so we can plan the best route.

Can we have a private tour just for our group?

Yes. Any tour on the site can run as a private tour for your group, at a time that suits you. Mention it in your booking request and your planner will send a private price.

How far in advance should I book tickets for Sagrada Família and Park Güell?

We highly recommend booking at least 3-4 weeks in advance, especially during the peak season (May to October). Both sites operate under strict hourly capacity limits, and same-day tickets are almost never available. Our custom tours and packages include pre-arranged timed entry to guarantee access.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Single tours and transfers need no deposit: you pay once we confirm availability by email. Packages and hotel stays are held with a 30% deposit, and the balance is due 30 days before you arrive.

What is your cancellation policy?

Most tours can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time. Tours with named entry tickets, such as the Sagrada Família, can be changed free up to 72 hours before. Packages and stays follow the terms in your confirmation, which your planner explains before you pay anything.

Can I change my dates after booking?

Yes, as long as there is availability. Write to your planner as early as you can and we will move your tours, transfers and rooms together. Date changes are free for tours made more than 24 hours ahead.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards through a secure payment link, as well as bank transfer for packages and group trips. Prices are in euros and include VAT.
